Owners of Volvo electric cars now have access to a broader range of public charging networks for electric cars in Europe following the direct integration of the Plugsurfing platform into the Volvo Car app. By improving the functionality of the Volvo Car app, Volvo owners can now use more than 270,000 charging stations across the continent and national borders while paying for charging with a simple and hassle-free payment system.

The Volvo Car app shows you where the nearest public charging station is and real-time information on its availability. By simplifying the mobile charging experience, Volvo Cars makes it even easier for the driver to charge his fully electric car, eliminating countless vastly different charging apps and payment systems while improving access to the public charging infrastructure.

Arek Nowinski, Head of EMEA at Volvo Cars, says: "Creating fully electric premium vehicles is only part of a much broader ecosystem for consumers for the switch to a fully electric car. We recognize the frustration that many of our customers have to manage many different maps and install many apps to access the various charging stations. By improving the charging experience, we support our customers throughout Europe on their fully electric journey. Volvo Car- the app has access to multiple networks through our digital platform inside and outside their home country. "

Plugsurfing's Developer Platform and Drive API make the integration possible, which incorporates charging information directly into the Volvo Car app and charging information directly into the Volvo Car app, thereby creating an uncomplicated and convenient experience.

"The Drive API is the evolution of our commitment to our partners," said Tatu Kulla, CEO of Plugsurfing. "With this integration, Volvo Cars can develop its products and services to achieve its goal of becoming a fully electric company by the end of 2030. We are proud to be the partner that helps make this a reality."

Following the introduction in Switzerland and Italy, Volvo Cars will continue to roll out the updated functionality to most of its European markets from now until the end of 2022. The integration is scheduled to start in June.

Volvo Cars outline its ambition to offer its Recharge customers complete and easy access to public charging. With the new functionality of the Volvo Car app, owners of fully electric Volvo cars benefit from special prices when charging at IONITY stations around Europe. In Sweden and Norway, Volvo Cars has also joined forces with the charging operator Mer to offer advantageous tariffs in these countries - with an ambition to improve the consumer offer at several providers continuously.
