German luxury carmaker BMW unveiled its new i7 electric sedan a few days ago, which features the Theater Screen. It is a widescreen display with 8K resolution and a 31-inch diagonal dedicated to the rear passengers. BMW revealed this possibility through a teaser image with their zero-emission model. Theater Screen was unveiled earlier this year at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. Rear passengers can use it to watch movies or listen to music. This will be possible thanks to the BMW Group and Amazon collaboration.

BMW did not disclose the exact size of the display. But at the presentation three months ago, German officials said it would have an 8K resolution and a 31-inch diagonal.

According to official information, the content can be played on Theater Screen Content in 16: 9, 21: 9, and even 32: 9. In addition, the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround audio system will complement this unprecedented experience in the automotive industry.

Once the "My Mode Theater" function is activated, the giant screen will descend from the ceiling. At the same time, the sun visors of the side windows and the rear window will be closed, and the ambient lighting on the rear seats will be diminished.

You can see several features in the image posted on the official BMW page. These include Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, Twitch, Red Bull, etc. An application will also be available to provide real-time news feeds.

In a previous teaser, the Bavarian manufacturer revealed the illuminated front grille of the future i7 electric sedan and the new signature of daytime running lights. The latter is identical to those on the facelift versions of the X7 and iX models. However, the BMW i7 electric car will take over the new design with separate headlights from the SUV.

The technical details of the powertrain are unknown. The latest information says that the BMW i7 electric car will use the same propulsion system as the BMW iX M60 electric SUV. This means that the zero-emission version of the new generation 7 Series will offer over 600 hp. When Sport mode is activated, the two electric motors on the BMW iX M60 deliver 610 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque. BMW announces that the new i7 will offer a range of up to 500 kilometers.

Along with the BMW i7, the Munich-based manufacturer will also launch the new 7 Series iteration. It will be available with a V8 hybrid engine that produces over 600 hp. We will find out more details at the time of the April 20 launch.

German carmaker unveiled the new BMW 7 Series and BMW i7 electric SUV at the same time in New York, Munich, and Beijing.
