Stellantis Germany registered 17,184 new Jeep passenger cars with the Federal Motor Transportation Authority in 2022. In addition, 346 new Jeep Gladiator Pickup light commercial vehicles were registered. With 17,530 new registrations, Jeep ended the year with a 27.3 percent increase in new passenger car registrations compared to the year before. This made Jeep one of the best-selling car brands in Germany. Jeep's success is even more impressive because the German market has almost stopped growing, and the off-road vehicle market has only grown by 6.5%. So, Jeep's market share has increased from 0.5 percent in 2012 to 0.65 percent in 2022.
With 9,903 new registrations, the Jeep brand's best-selling car in 2022 was the compact-class Jeep Compass, which got off to a good start in the middle of 2017 and got a big boost when its current generation came out in 2021. The Jeep Compass was also the main driver of growth in 2022, with sales up 58.1% from the year before. With 5,418 new registrations, the tiny Jeep Renegade was the first successful Jeep World entry. This was followed by the off-road icon Jeep Wrangler, which had 1,858 new registrations, an increase of 35.4% from the year before.
The new Jeep Avenger, the first BEV from the Jeep brand, had an excellent start before it went on sale. More than 1,500 people have already placed a firm order for the smaller Jeep below the Renegade.
Over the past year, Jeep has also put hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains in all of its SUVs. Sixty percent of Jeep Renegade sales were PHEV drives, 85 percent of Jeep Compass sales were PHEV drives, and all Jeep Wrangler sales were PHEV drives.
